Inspired by Exodus 11–14. In order to free Israel from Egyptian enslavement, the Lord proclaimed that he would take every firstborn son of all of Egypt but none of Israel. Pharaoh's heart was hardened, so he refused to let the Israelites leave even after the Lord's claim.

"At midnight the Lord struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock as well. Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead."

After this act, the Egyptians urged the Israelites to leave as quickly as possible. After leaving their enslavement, the Israelites were unaware of where God was taking them. Despite hearing about this promised land, they hadn't seen it. Some of them were frightened and unsure, and some even thought of going back into slavery because they didn't trust God. However, God had a plan for them that involved leading them to a land flowing with milk and honey. Through placing their trust in the Lord, He saved them.
